Cashwool

Cashwool is the term that describes the high-quality processing of the wool of the Ramanov sheep. The extremly soft wool is processed like cashmere, smooth as cotton, completely itch-free and very strong and resourceful. The wool is double coated with mean diameter of wool fibers of 20.9 micrometres and 71.9 micrometres of outer-coat hair (lamb wool).
History
The sheep breed Romanov originates from the historical region Upper Volga in Russia and was named after the Russian royal family Romanov. The Romanov sheep were bred out since the 17th century and are spread all over the world today. Romanov sheep are used to very cold temperatures and over the course of evolution have developed a very fine undercoat that is comparable with fine cashmere fibres.
Shearing process
Typically the Romanov sheep are shorn once each year and for the welfare of the animal, the shearing does not take place during cold climate winters.
Sustainability & eco-friendliness
Wool is a natural and renewable resource. Cashwool in particular is fine as cashmere but much sturdier and therefore more durable than cashmere.
Special features
- The densely knitted cashwool is qualified for both indoor and outdoor activities, due to its close-to windproof and water-repellant quality and due to having very good thermal insulating properties.
- The smooth cashwool is as soft as cashmere, completely itch-free, highly resilient and wear resistant, retaining its strength and unique properties for decades.
- Cashwool is a renewable and environmentally friendly resource.
- It is resistant to chemicals, ignition, shrinking and wrinkling.

Haptic
The densely knitted double bed quality consists of two interwoven layers, which were made of a very thick cashwool yarn. More than four kilgramms of cashwool were used for the production of this coat, therefore expect a pleasant weight on your shoulders with a very unique and solid surface feel.
