All high-quality ceramics are hand-thrown by one of the last traditional, family-run stoneware ceramic manufacturers in Germany. This set is suitable for enjoying coffee or tea, alone or with another 3 or 4 companions. The grey stoneware ceramics are dishwasher-safe and can withstand water heated up to 70 \u00b0C.<\/p>\n
The coffee set is part of the grey and unglazed \u00bbSingular\u00ab Tableware Collection designed in 2021, which emerged out of the black and white ceramic collection \u00bbPolar\u00ab from 2015. The purist, green-grey ceramic glaze is reminiscent of the natural colour of lichen on trees or the colouration of raw concrete, which is why the coffee pot is named \u00bbBrutal\u00ab, in reference to brutalist architectural buildings.<\/p>\n
Whereas the raw unglazed finish is a tribute to the pioneering German artist Joseph \u00bbBeuys\u00ab, who used raw, natural materials and actions to advocate for an expanded concept of art. He advocated to collectively address the ecological crisis by non-dualistic ways of thinking, in order to align with our true purpose in life, the preservation of nature, our source.<\/p>\n\n
The black and white ceramics of the \u00bbPolar\u00ab collection embody opposing poles and represent difference and dualism. While the REH (GERMANY) \u00bbSingular\u00ab Collection with its grey and unglazed stoneware ceramics stand for variety, equality, and diversity. An essential aspect of modern life seems to be our tendency towards the \u00bbhaving-mode\u00ab, dwelling in competitive and divisive thinking (Erich Fromm).<\/p>\n
But what is crucial is the \u00bbin-between\u00ab, such as the so-called \u00bbbeing-mode\u00ab in which we can celebrate our commonalities. In all cultures, this often occurs when people come together to eat and drink. The integration of black, white, and grey ceramics into everyday life is, therefore, a playful but also artistic representation of holism.<\/p>\n
For me, high-quality, durable, and therefore valuable everyday objects are not only timeless companions, but also modern tools that can encourage us to consume less and more locally, guiding us towards a way of life oriented towards being. After all, who wouldn\u2019t prefer spending much more time with themselves, friends, and family instead of dedicating their life to work for excess consumption?<\/p>\n
